Description

The OTHM Level 3 Certificate in Facial Treatments has been developed to provide learners with a range of knowledge and understanding about the requirements for providing facial treatments. Successful completion of this qualification will equip learners with the underpinning knowledge and skills required to succeed in employment or further studies.

 

Entry requirements

 

The OTHM Level 3 Certificate in Facial Treatments qualification can be offered to learners from age 16. It is recommended that learners hold a Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy or equivalent qualification.

OTHM centres must ensure learners are recruited with integrity onto appropriate qualifications and that they possess the required knowledge, understanding and skills to enrol and successfully achieve this qualification. The qualification is offered in English.

English requirements: If a learner is not from a majority English-speaking country must provide evidence of English language competency.

Equivalences

 

OTHM qualifications at Level 3 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels.

 

Qualification structure

 

The OTHM Level 3 Certificate in Facial Treatments consists of 4 mandatory units for a combined total of 26 credits, 270 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 180 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

  • To ensure the currency of their practice, our teachers and educators actively maintain and update their knowledge and competence through revalidation, peer review, appraisal, and recognition from relevant authorities.
  • As a standard best practice, our teaching staff:
  • Holds a postgraduate teaching qualification, such as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent.
  • Are occupational experts with qualifications, knowledge, and understanding at the same level as or higher than the training being delivered.
  • Understand the structure and content of the qualification and the learning outcomes they are delivering.
  • Have recent and relevant industry experience in the specific area they are teaching.
  • Undertake activities contributing to their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Assessors and Internal Quality Assurers

  • While TAQA qualifications are valued for our center staff, they are not currently a requirement for the qualification.

Assessors

  • Assessors are individuals approved to evaluate your work. They must meet the occupational competence criteria specified for the qualifications they assess.
  • To ensure the quality of assessment, our assessors:
  • Hold a suitable, relevant assessor qualification or are working towards one.
  • Are occupational experts with qualifications and knowledge relevant to the qualification content.
  • Understand the assessment process.
  • Undertake activities contributing to their CPD.
  • Have recent and relevant industry experience in the specific area they assess.
  • Have credible experience in assessment within a teaching and/or training environment.
  • Assessors must assess your work following the assessment and grading requirements specified in the qualification.

Internal Quality Assurers (IQA)

  • Our center maintains a rigorous internal quality assurance system. An IQA ensures assessment decisions are consistently applied between assessors, and your work meets the required standard.
  • The IQA observes assessors, reviews assessment decisions, and holds standardization meetings to ensure consistency in documentation use and interpretation of qualification requirements.
  • Evidence of internal quality assurance is recorded, retained, and made available for external quality assurance.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

  • We support our staff to stay current in their occupational area, aligning their practices with best practices and national or legislative developments.
  • CPD records of all staff members are available for external quality assurance.

Record Keeping

  • We maintain records, including learner information, assessment plans, learner assessment records, records of internal quality assurance activities, and records of assessor/IQA progress toward relevant qualifications.
